Holy fuck that might have been the fastest 20 minutes of my entire life. We’ve obviously gotta begin with The Last of Us: Part II, now announced to be released on February 21st, 2020. We’re now set for 2020 to become the single best year in video game history. That trailer looked so polished, so gritty, so fucking perfect and we haven’t seen gameplay since E3 2018. I’m going to have to find some way to get a PS4 Pro and an Xbox One X before the end of the year because there’s no way I’m playing that or Cyberpunk 2077 on the OG consoles. Can’t wait.
The biggest surprise for me was that indie game Afterparty. That looks fucking sick. I can’t believe it hasn’t been on my radar. Thankfully, it’s not a Sony exclusive. Release date is October 29th, 2019 which just happens to be the day before my actual birthday. Soooooo, who wants to gift that game to me? Anyone?
The LA Noire VR title looks horrible, but all the other VR games showcased in that 2-3 minute trailer looked fucking dope. Is PlayStation VR now the leader in VR gaming? No clue because I’ve been waiting for VR game quality to improve before trying it out. They’re getting close tho…
Wrapping up, MediEval looks good but I’ll probably end up skipping it because there’s too many games coming out during that window, Modern Warfare‘s campaign looks sick, that Humanity game looks weird but funny, and Arise is clearly Sony’s attempt to compete with Ori and the Will of the Wisps.
Xbox has an “Inside Xbox” event scheduled for Thursday, so we’ll see if they can even get close to that quality of announcements. *spoiler* they probably won’t.
