“After thorough evaluation SIE has decided not to participate in E3 2020. We have great respect for the ESA as an organization, but we do not feel the vision of E3 2020 is the right venue for what we are focused on this year. We will build upon our global events strategy in 2020 by participating in hundreds of consumer events across the globe. Our focus is on making sure fans feel part of the PlayStation family and have access to play their favorite content. We have a fantastic line up of titles coming to PlayStation 4, and with the upcoming launch of PlayStation 5, we are truly looking forward to a year of celebration with our fans.” – IGN

Why? Why are you doing this?

It doesn’t make any sense. I understood why you skipped E3 last year; it was kinda an off-year and you were going to announce the PS5 in 2020. So yea, you can get away with doing what Nintendo is doing and just hold pre-recorded press conferences.

But it’s 2020 Sony. You have a brand new console coming out this holiday season. We don’t know the specs, we don’t know the launch lineup of games; we know fucking nothing.

So what the fuck are you going to do? Are you going to go the Nintendo Direct route? I really hope that’s not the case. Your fans deserve more than just some pre-recorded bullshit, especially since Microsoft is going to go HARD with the Xbox Series X showcase at E3 2020.

But…there’s another rumor floating around right now, one that is taking place in San Fransisco as we speak. There is a rumor that all the big-time PlayStation executives are traveling to San Fransisco right now, and they may be holding a surprise live conference where they announce, showcase, and reveal the actual design and specs of the PS5.

It’s just a rumor, but if it were true, holy. shit. That’s much better than a stupid “State of Play”. I hope that’s what they choose to do, whether it’s this month or later in the spring.

Either way, you better make it fucking wild if you want to stand a chance against Xbox’s launch sales.
