I don’t get it. I just don’t fucking get it guys.
I don’t understand how a company that has run one of the most successful long-running series in all of gaming for over a decade is also the dumbest most out-of-touch idiotic company in the history of gaming.
And yes, that includes EA.
Let’s start with “Part 1” of this colossal shitstorm.
Like what in the actual fucknuts. How do you go from pawntakespawn, the “know your history” event, and Zombies promotion to a 30-second cutscene NUKING THE ENTIRE MAP?!? In what world does that make any fucking sense?!? If anything, all the other shit should have been 30-second cutscenes and THIS should have been your big mystery! It’s the biggest most played game in the history of Call of Duty and this is the biggest event to date!
And then this morning, we find out that’s not even the worst part.
I’m in utter disbelief. Who made this decision? David Vondehaar? Someone over at Raven Software? Joe Cecot lurking the shadows? The head of Activision?
Doesn’t matter; they should be fired today. Whoever made this call to reskin Verdansk instead of making a new map does not deserve the right to make one more decision for this franchise. Why? Because clearly they just don’t fucking care anymore.
And I know the devs are going to respond to the backlash with something like “You don’t understand how much work goes into making a new map, this is the best we could do in the time we had, remember how many devs we have working hard for you, blah blah blah.”
You’re right, I don’t know how long it takes to make a new map. But I know this: every big AAA battle royale has had a complete map overhaul or a brand new map debut within the first year. Every battle royale now except Warzone. And no, Rebirth Island doesn’t count. It’s just a port from Black Ops 4 to MW’s engine with the new items added. You don’t get credit for recycling shit from your older games, especially when we literally just played it two years ago.
And yea you can say that Fortnite has a simpler art style and PUBG is a buggy shitstorm and all that jazz, but what are you gonna say about Apex Legends? They made a new map in 8 months. They have an art style that’s just about as detailed as Warzone. What do you have to say to that?
You know what else? Apex Legends was developed by Respawn Entertainment, which is made up of former Infinity Ward employees from the CoD 4/MW2 days. They clearly know what the fuck they’re doing (at least with the maps, maybe not the battle pass).
But whoever’s at the helm now has no fucking clue. They don’t understand the way the gaming world works now. They may be a business genius but they’re gonna look like a real dumbass when the Warzone community fades away in the next 6 months.
Which is exactly what is going to happen.
